An appeal from Marc, a follower of Christ in the City of Parramatta

Picture this: 30 kids from St. Johns Youth standing together on the Church lawn. Each of them is about to be baptised. This Church lawn, happens to be in the geographical centre of Parramatta, where hundreds of people are walking by the Church at any given time. Is there a better opportunity for our Youth in Parramatta to declare their faith boldly and publicly? Maybe not. Perhaps this context is no different to that of the public baptisms that John the Baptist held. Not only will the Youth make a public declaration of their faith, but the message of life through Jesus will be proclaimed to the many. That's just one way that we hope God will use 2019.

Over 30 different nations are represented across the services at St. Johns. The unique stories and backgrounds of each of these members make for a thoroughly diverse church family. Where there a families, there are youth. Where there are youth, there are even more youth. But for a Church that is made up of such diverse families, Asian or Arabic, African or Australian, broken or unbroken, how can we provide a youth service that equips them to live a Gospel shaped life?

That is a question that the Youth Leaders of St. Johns have consistently been bringing before God. And for the next two years, I am committing myself to the same purpose.

God has opened doors for 2019. During the 2019 and 2020 period, I will lead, pastor and teach the Youth Service at St. Johns Anglican Church Parramatta, which is called Engage. This will be my core responsibility as an MTS trainee. Alongside this, I will be co-directing the music ministry team for the 5pm young adult congregation. As part of my MTS training I will undertake studies at Cornhill, as well as with the Timothy Partnership. Alongside this, Pastor Ronaldo Sanchez will be my mentor in ministry and leadership.

There are many ways you can partner with me on this mission. The Spirit may prompt you to join in reaching the youth, offering your gifts or to pray consistently and fervently for this city. Please pray that God will continue to grow me in my love and knowledge of Him, and for a fruitful ministry.
